Don’t drink Naomi Wolf’s victim-blaming haterade

My name is Sandra, and I am a wikileaks addict.  I ritually check The Guardian’s daily coverage of the latest cables.  On Twitter, #cablegate is my only saved search.

I’m not telling you this so I can launch into a joyous rant about how my years of justified paranoia are finally being vindicated.  (Though, on a side note: I TOLD YOU, MOTHERFUCKERS!)  Rather, I think that I am trying to emphasize my torrid love affair with hating on the global elite and how giddy the latest information dump has made me.

Love affair or not, as a feminist and survivor of sexual assault and intimate partner violence, I was of course, troubled by Julian Assange’s rape allegations and waited with baited breath for the feminist blogosphere to respond and help clear up some of the conflict I felt.  And did I ever wait!  The buzz didn’t really start until Assange’s arrest earlier this month, based on allegations of rape by two women in Sweden.

Unfortunately, the first reaction I read was Naomi Wolf’s satirical open letter to Interpol titled “Julian Assange Captured by World Dating Police.”
